KQED Reflection

KQED, the most mellow and calm working environment I have ever been to. The environment and the people were not busy at all when I visited. KQED was a very silent place however, there was alot of expensive and important equipment. Technology was a huge role in the workspace and daily work practices. No acting took place inside. It was a very mellow environment.

Like I said before not many things went on at KQED during my visit but luckily we did see a radio host on air. He could not make any mistakes while on air. He had to be very precise while speaking. I also saw a professional camera being moved through the specially smooth surface of soundproof room where KQED does the recording from. It seemed like people were preparing for something. Some people were watching multiple screens of a show on air, in case something went wrong. I saw a room where there were many phones where volunteers call people and ask for pledges or donations towards the funding of KQED. I think it must have been a quiet day.

I would not be able to work in an environment like that. I am too anxious of a person to just prepare for something or just watch things. I would like to do actual activities, they don’t necessarily have to be physical, but something that would keep me occupied, away from boredom. I  would feel like a confined hamster if I worked in an environment like I saw at KQED.

I learned time management is a very important skill for being a radio host. Not a lot of time is given to announce an event or information. I also learned that a lot of what is aired has already been organized a week to two weeks prior. Many skills are needed to work in KQED but time management is the most important when millions of Americans are watching.

When we went to U.C. Berkeley last week. I was a little surprised by some things. It wasn’t really what I expected. I expected to see classes and classrooms with a couple hundred people. I also wanted to see the regular classes with about 30 people. I wanted to see how the professors taught and I wanted to listen to how they gave lectures and I expected to see people taking notes like crazy. I was really looking forward to walking around campus and sight-seeing a little bit. I was also expecting a little more information on financial aid for the U.C. system. I wasn’t expecting the tour to take as long as it did.

I didn’t like the fact that we were not able to look around and go inside classes. I think it might have been our fault because we were running late. I think it would have helped a lot more if we would have saw the classrooms and heard a class in session. I think next time we should leave before 2^nd period because 2 hours would have helped a lot, we would have been able to see a lot more and could have been impressed and influenced a lot more than we were. We should have really prepared more questions because our tour guide seemed like he was expecting them and we didn’t give him anything to answer, he seemed a little disappointed. I appreciated the fact that he was prepared. We did learn a lot of history on the college. We learned about the dorms and some of the cool programs and student organized events they had. I also just liked being in the environment. We could still see all the buildings from the outside, which looked really great. The Greek architecture looked awesome. I think seeing all the people there and just being in the college really made big impression on us.

All in all, I liked visiting U.C. Berkeley and I think it should definitely happen every year for sophomores. Its a good experience but we can definitely make it better with some modifications of the trip. I also learned not to go to Starbucks when it could affect other people . Lol xD.

Graphic design was cool but I couldn’t really grasp it because apparently I’m not that creative. I liked the different ones I saw though because some people were really creative and they really looked professional.

Photography was really cool because we learned that different angles and sunlight can have a big impact on how good the picture will look when its taken. We also used  photoshop to edit them. Dopeness!!

Hoof made me realize that my grandpa was really a hero in mexico and it was fun to create it and use final cut.

Bryce seems really cool , but like Randy said in the beginning it was hard to grasp the 3D environment but now its easy to understand.Now its hard to deal with the camera though. Definitely cool so far though!!

Yeah just so you know, none of the pictures are really my family. Im not joking.

I learned not to procrastinate because it was hard because I waited to start working on it and I cold have worked harder.

there was different themes to this music and what we intended was to make you feel certain things, we used different methods like making certain sounds travel from one side to another or making the song fade out so it wouldn’t end abruptly. We just started learning to work with this program called guitar band which is what I used to make everything so yeaaaahhh…… go the links!!!!
